Commissioner Allen Pascual
Public Safety Commissioner ALLEN PASCUAL was elected in 2002. Currently the director of curriculum and instruction at North Bergen High School, he is helping to revolutionize NBHS’ college placement services with new technology and a focus on matching students with the schools and programs that fit them the best.
Under Commissioner Pascual’s leadership, the North Bergen Police Department has grown into one of the most effective and diverse police units in the country. Nearly 60% of the department is of Hispanic heritage, representing the community at large, thanks to Mayor Sacco’s resident-only hiring policy. Meanwhile crime is down and neighborhoods are safer than ever as a result of innovative new technologies like the department's CCTV security camera system and community engagement and involvement.
As public safety commissioner, he also oversees other important township activities such as the EMS services, crossing guards, and more, and works with North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue, the township's regional fire services provider.
He earned a master’s degree in education from Rider University.
