‘Hudson Reporter’ Honored with Proclamation One Year After Closure
June 07, 2024The Township of North Bergen honored the former local news publication Hudson Reporter on the one-year anniversary of its closure on Wednesday, Jun. 5, 2024. Originally founded in 1983 as the Hoboken Reporter by Joseph Barry, the publication expanded to cover all of Hudson County, serving as a vital source of local news.
Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Board of Commissioners expressed their gratitude to the journalists and staff for their dedication and service over the years. Former employees Dan Israel, Jordan Coll, and Art Schwartz accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Hudson Reporter, which was celebrated for its commitment to bringing local issues to light and fostering civic engagement within the Township of North Bergen.
The closure of the Hudson Reporter reflects a broader trend of local news outlets shutting down, which diminishes community unity. The Township of North Bergen is grateful for the Hudson Reporter's role in keeping residents informed and wishes its staff and employees the best in their future endeavors.
