Mayor Cuts Ribbon Welcoming Two New Eateries to the Braddock Park Lake House

June 07, 2024
Visitors to Braddock Park now have two great options for meals. Both Rumba’s Café and Playa Bowls have opened new branches in the building overlooking the lake.

Alan Lopez opened the first Rumba’s Café in Jersey City in 2004, followed by five Rumba Cubana restaurants. Now he’s launched his second Rumba Café right here in North Bergen, with a wide selection of delicious Spanish favorites and snacks, including Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, croquettes, plantains, and much more.

Playa Bowls is a hugely popular chain offering fruit bowls both traditional and exotic, along with smoothies, cold pressed juices, and other mouth-watering options. Manager Lia Victoria was delighted to find this location facing the lake and looks forward to serving the local community.

Mayor Nicholas Sacco cut the ribbon on Friday, May 31 welcoming both businesses to town, accompanied by Commissioners Hugo Cabrera, Allen Pascual, and Claudia Rodriguez, Township Administrator Janet Castro, County Commissioner Robert Baselice, Sheriff Frank Schillari, former Commissioner Frank Gargiulo, and more municipal officials and residents.

Both facilities were beautifully designed with huge picture windows facing the lake, featuring a striking green/sustainability theme for Rumba to match the location, and the playfully colorful graphics from artist Len Rock that adorn all Play Bowls locations.

Outdoor dining is available next to the walkway surrounding the lake, with additional indoor seating currently under construction on the second-floor balcony, featuring amazing views of the park.
