The Leber Funeral Home, Mack Memorial Home, and Garden State Crematory hosted their 7th annual “Public Servants Appreciation Day” picnic on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 honoring and celebrating local police, firefighters, and EMS workers. The event was organized by Dorothy Dankert, the office manager of Garden State Crematory, and featured free food, t-shirts, bookbags, pins, and more. It was held from 11 to 4 p.m. to allow these dedicated workers an opportunity to stop by as their schedules permitted.

Mayor Nicholas Sacco stopped by to thank the organizers and the first responders, along with Commissioners Hugo Cabrera, Allan Pascual, Claudia Rodriguez, and Anthony Vainieri, Police Chief Robert Farley, NHRFR Executive Director Mike DeOrio, EMS Chief David Prina, Assemblyman Julio Marenco, County Commissioner Bob Baselice, and other officials.
