6 New Officers Sworn in at Oath of Office Ceremony on Apr. 10
April 12, 2024Mayor Nicholas Sacco, Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual, and Police Chief Robert Farley Jr. presided over the oath of office for six NBPD officers at a ceremony inside town hall chambers on Wednesday, Apr.10, 2024.
New Police Officers
Alexander Lambros was born in North Bergen and has lived here for over 17 years. He graduated from North Bergen High School in 2011 and was hired by the North Bergen Police Department in December of 2022 as a class 2 special law enforcement officer. He successfully graduated from the Passaic County Police Academy in June of 2023.
Julian Vargas, originally from Colombia, moved to North Bergen in 1992 and has been a resident for over 30 years. Vargas attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from North Bergen High School in 1998. With over 12 years of service at the North Bergen Department of Public Works, he transitioned to a law enforcement career in 2016 as a state correctional police officer in Rahway.
Christopher Arce was born in New York and moved to North Bergen shortly after. He has been a North Bergen resident for over 27 years. Arce graduated from North Bergen High School in 2010 and obtained his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Rutgers University in 2016. Prior to his current role, Arce worked for the North Bergen Parking Authority and the North Bergen Police Department.
New Special Law Enforcement Officers
Yoswany Gonzalez was born and raised in North Bergen where she attended Franklin Elementary School and graduated from North Bergen High School in 2020. Currently enrolled at New Jersey City University, she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Gonzalez has been a North Bergen communications officer since November of 2022.
Kiana Rosado, a North Bergen native, attended Franklin Elementary School and graduated from North Bergen High School in 2018. In 2022, Rosado graduated from Felician University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in psychology. Since March of 2021, she has served as a North Bergen communications officer.
Wellington Tobar Jr., originally from New York, moved to North Bergen in 2001 and has been a resident for over 22 years. Tobar graduated from North Bergen High School in 2016 and is a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo. With over 5 years of teaching experience, he serves as a lead Taekwondo instructor at Bergen Taekwondo Academy.
Police Chief Robert Farley Jr. was master of ceremonies at the swearing-in. Father Yuvan performed the invocation and benediction. Also in attendance were members of the officers’ families, along with many representatives from the township administration and the police department.
