The Township has been ordered by the county and state to conduct a tax revaluation on all properties in North Bergen.

The goal of the revaluation is to ensure that everyone is assessed accurately. The total amount of taxes raised by the township will not change as a result of the revaluation.  Instead, the revaluation ensures that the total amount is fairly distributed among all properties based on their true market value, meaning some homes will not have their taxes impacted at all, while others may have their taxes increase or decrease.

Representatives from Appraisal Systems, Inc., the company conducting the inspections, began visiting homes on Monday, May 10. Residents will be given the option of an in-person inspection or an inspection by video conference.
