EMS Gets New Ambulance
January 30, 2020North Bergen’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has introduced a new vehicle to their fleet. In late January they added a new Ford E350 Type 3 ambulance.
Type 3 ambulances are fully-equipped emergency vehicles with a cab up front and a rear “box” unit behind, with a connecting door between them. NB’s EMS now has three Type 3 units and two Type 1’s, which are larger four-wheel drive vehicles without the connecting door between the cab and rear unit. (EMS does not have any Type 2 ambulances, which are vans.)
The new ambulance replaces an older vehicle that was retired. Received in late December, the new ambulance was inspected and tested before being put in service on January 28, 2020.
The EMS handles about 8,000 calls per year, consisting of 911 calls from North Bergen and Guttenberg.
