New Jersey has officially enacted a bill establishing a new statewide framework for regulating electric bicycles. The law reclassifies many e-bikes as motorized bicycles and introduces requirements such as licensing, registration, and, in some cases, insurance.

 

The North Bergen Police Department urges all residents, riders, and businesses to familiarize themselves with the updated e-bike laws. These changes are designed to enhance safety, accountability, and proper use of motorized devices throughout our community.

 

 

NBPD officers will be conducting proactive enforcement and community outreach to ensure a smooth transition.
