North Bergen residents have stepped up in a big way to support Angelina’s Closet, the initiative to offer free prom dresses and accessories to senior students who may need assistance preparing for prom.

 

Launched in March of this year, the program began modestly and quickly expanded beyond expectations, providing many students with outfits for this year’s upcoming prom dance, all courtesy of generous donations from the public. Students have enthused over the program, likening it to shopping in a high-end boutique – without the high-end price tag.

 

Donations are currently being accepted for this year’s junior and senior proms. Donors can bring dresses, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and accessories to North Bergen High School, 7417 Kennedy Boulevard, and ask for the Guidance Department.

 

Angelina’s Closet – created in memory of Angelina Maria Gardner, who passed away as an infant and would have attended her senior prom this year – will be open weekly during certain lunch periods over the coming weeks for students come “shop” for clothing to help make prom night especially memorable.
