Members of the North Bergen High School Marching Band were special guests on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Mar. 5. Actor Ryan Gosling surprised his wife, Eva Mendes, by bringing her onstage, where the band popped out from behind a curtain to serenade her with a rousing “Happy Birthday.”

 

As they played, the band held a sign that said “Happy Birthday Eva!” Fallon and Gosling and the entire audience sang along, with the performance ending in a shower of confetti.

 

The band’s exceptional season led to them being invited by the Tonight Show’s casting director to participate in the unique segment. Joining them were members of the NBHS staff that helped coach them through the season.

 

After the show, the band joined the rest of the audience – largely comprising teachers and educators – for a preview screening of the upcoming Ryan Gosling movie, “Project Hail Mary.”
