North Bergen Adopts Resolution Supporting the Hudson Tunnel Project
February 06, 2026The Township of North Bergen Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution of support for the Hudson Tunnel Project during the Commissioner Meeting held on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The resolution reaffirms the Township’s long-standing support for this critical infrastructure project and urges the immediate restoration of federal funding.
The Hudson Tunnel Project would construct a new two-tube rail tunnel under the Hudson River connecting New Jersey and New York, while also rehabilitating the existing North River Tunnel, which has been in service for more than a century and is a major source of delays along the Northeast Corridor. The project is essential to maintaining reliable rail service, protecting the regional economy, and supporting thousands of jobs.
By adopting this resolution, North Bergen continues to advocate for improved transportation reliability for residents, commuters, and the broader region, while emphasizing the urgency of addressing aging infrastructure before disruptions occur.
