Township of North Bergen Earns Bronze Award in AAA’s Annual Traffic Safety Program
January 09, 2026AAA Northeast awarded the Township of North Bergen Police Department with a Bronze Award, recognizing the department’s traffic safety efforts. The Township was honored for its efforts to educate the community about traffic safety topics and adjust its traffic safety efforts in 2024 to keep roadway incidents down.
AAA Outreach Manager Shani Jarvis presented the award to Police Chief Robert Farley, Mayor Nicholas Sacco, and the NBPD at a recent commission meeting.
In addition, Detective Bryan Suarez was awarded the AAA Traffic Safety Leadership Award for going above and beyond the roles and responsibilities of his position. Detective Suarez is the department’s first Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), as well as a DRE instructor for the New Jersey State Police. Detective Suarez also trains participants in the Township’s crossing guard program, ensuring residents walk safely around town. He has extensive traffic safety training through Crash Reconstruction Level 1 and 2, and Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation courses.
