County Commissioner Robert Baselice has been working with the county to make improvements to Paterson Plank Road from Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen to Secaucus. Work on the project is scheduled to begin on Monday, Sep. 29, 2025 weather permitting.  

The project includes the following:

• Construction and installation of decorative lighting along the entire street.
• Concrete vertical curb, concrete sidewalk, and concrete vertical wall construction. 
• Milling and paving of the road.
• New guiderails and new decorative steel fence installation.
• Traffic striping and marking, including areas with high friction surface treatment.
• Installation of new traffic signs where necessary.
• Installation on crosswalk of rectangular rapid flashing beacons.
• Installation of 360-degree video detection system (four cameras).
• Installation of driver feedback signs.
• Planting of new trees.

The project is anticipated to take about a year to complete. Traffic will be maintained in both directions. If traffic is blocked due to construction, a detour will be arranged. The Sheriff’s Department and local police will be present during the work.

Drivers and the public will be informed through illuminated boards installed at key points of the project.
