Customers at the ShopRite in Columbia Park got a treat on Thursday, Sep. 18 when guest baggers at the checkout lanes included Mayor Nicholas Sacco, County Commissioner Robert Baselice, and officers from the North Bergen Police Department.

 

The occasion was “Help Bag Hunger,” a component of ShopRite’s yearly Partners in Caring program, aimed at combating hunger in nearby communities. Numerous local and national vendors including General Mills, Thumann’s, Coke, and Pepsi donate items for sale during the initiative, with all profits going toward charities and food banks in North Bergen.

 

Mayor Sacco takes part in the initiative every September during National Hunger Action Month at the ShopRite location at 2147 Kennedy Blvd. Store Manager Manny Martinez coordinated the event and expressed his appreciation for the mayor and administration’s continuing support.
