September 19, 2025Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Township Commissioners are pleased to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, running from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, 2025. Throughout the month, the North Bergen Free Public Library is hosting a jam-packed series of live events for children and adults, including live music, crafts, lectures, movies, and more.
This coming week includes the Dominican American Parade on Sunday, Sep. 21, beginning around noon in North Bergen at the 79th Street entrance to Braddock Park and proceeding down Bergenline Avenue with a procession of colorful floats, marchers, performers, and more.
National Hispanic Heritage Week was established in 1968 and expanded to National Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988. The month includes the anniversaries of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Chile, Belize, and Mexico.
North Bergen hosts a thriving and robust Hispanic community comprising individuals from many countries who have made enormous contributions to our diverse society by sharing their talents, culture, traditions, and their deep connection to family values. The township strongly supports this celebration of the rich cultural traditions and significant achievements of our Hispanic and Latino American communities.
