Kids Swarm All Over Rescue Rigs on NBPD’s ‘First Responders Community Day’
June 06, 2025The North Bergen Police Department’s first annual First Responders Day was a big success, filling the soccer field’s parking lot at Bruin Stadium with all manner of vehicles, from sleek police motorcycles to hulking SWAT trucks.
And the kids couldn’t get enough of it, climbing aboard fire trucks and ambulances and DPW vehicles, blasting sirens and collecting swag. Commissioners Allen Pascual and Anthony Vainieri greeted the crowed, along with Police Chief Robert Farley and many officers from the different first responder units.
For a bit of variety, there was an ice cream truck with free treats for everyone, plus games set up around the perimeter. Meanwhile a DJ from Sound Worx kept the mood upbeat, while the NBPD demonstrated one of their high-tech drones.
Among those represented and exhibiting vehicles were North Bergen PBA Local 18, North Bergen EMS, NB Public Works, NB R&T, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Hudson County SWAT, North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue, Cliffside Park Police Department, Cliffside Park EMS, the New Jersey Army National Guard, and Silvera Towing. Also participating were the North Bergen Parks & Recreation Department, Officer Joe Sitty and the NB Law Enforcement Against Drugs program, AT&T First Net, the Corn Guys, Medicare MarketPlace, and Trü Frü.
The event was held on Saturday, May 31. It was organized and run by the NBPD’s Community Relations Unit.
