The North Bergen DPW will begin Phase One of our Bergenline Avenue Streetscape project on Monday, Mar. 31, 2025 weather permitting. Phase One will focus on 71st to 79th Streets, with more to follow.

Among the improvements will be all new sidewalks and curbs; complete milling and repaving of the road from curb to curb; new lighting, benches, and trash receptacles; upgraded handicap ramps; installation of a decorative new clock and further enhancements like the North Bergen logo painted into the crosswalk at 79th and Bergenline to increase the visual appeal of the neighborhood.

Phase One will begin at 79th Street on the west side and proceed south to 71st Street, then cross the street and proceed north from 71st to 79th on the east side.

Businesses will be open and accessible while the work is taking place. Traffic on Bergenline will not be impacted in either direction. Parking will be minimally impacted for only a block or two at a time on one side of the street.

This project is designed to strengthen the vitality of our economic district, promote a more walkable community, and enhance the overall quality of life for both residents and businesses.
