Township Commissioners Honor Local Merchant Bob Ceragno During Cancer Awareness Month
March 07, 2025The North Bergen Township Commissioners issued a proclamation at the commission meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2025 naming March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and honoring prominent local businessman Bob Ceragno for his ongoing commitment to raising awareness of the disease.
Colorectal cancer affects individuals of all racial and ethnic groups, and more than 90% of cases occur in people who are 45 years old or older.
Regular colorectal cancer screening, beginning at age 45, is the key to prevention, since screening may detect abnormal precancerous growths and can also find early stages of cancer, when there is a greater chance that treatment will be most effective and lead to a cure.
The good health and residents of North Bergen are enhanced as a direct result of increased awareness about colorectal cancer and research into early detection, causes, and effective treatments.
The mayor and commissioners commended Ceragno, a survivor of colorectal cancer as a result of early screening, for his dedication over the years to promoting awareness of the disease and to raising funds to research and find effective treatments.
