NBPD’s Close Shave… For Charity
November 27, 2024Mayor Nicholas Sacco, Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual, Police Chief Robert Farley, Assemblyman Julio Marenco, and members of the North Bergen Police Department participated in the annual Shave-Off event at Eye Contact Vision Center on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024. The event, organized by Robert Ceragno, a colon cancer survivor and advocate, marked the end of No Shave November, with volunteers Renee Diaz and Edward Barry from Jagged Edge Spa and Salon shaving the beards of township officials and police officers.
The North Bergen PD and PBA Local 18 made a generous $4,350 contribution in support of men’s health advocacy. Ceragno’s Shave-Off event, which has raised nearly $95,000 for Fight CRC over the past nine years, highlights the importance of early screenings and life-saving treatments.
Ceragno, whose colon cancer was detected early through screening, has become a passionate advocate for colon cancer awareness. His ongoing efforts emphasize the need for proactive health measures and help end the stigma surrounding colonoscopies. In recognition of his work, North Bergen now observes March as Colon Cancer Awareness Month, continuing the fight to educate and support those at risk.
