North Bergen Continues the Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
September 27, 2024Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Township Commissioners are pleased to continue the town’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of live events for children and adults, including dance classes and performances, concerts, crafts, movies, and more.
On Thursday, Sep. 26, 2024 Montclair State University Professor Jeffrey Gonzalez hosted a discussion of Hispanic authors and how they broke into a predominantly Euro/Anglo publishing world. Providing a fascinating historical background, he highlighted both high profile and lesser-known authors who deserve a bigger following. The presentation was followed by a lively Q&A and discussion period with the audience.
Next up, on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 the North Bergen Recreation Center & Library’s monthly Spanish movie matinee is the thriller “Desaparecidos en la Noche.” The film is being screened for free at 12:30 p.m. The library will provide free lunch at 11:45 a.m. Space is limited. Also on Thursday, October 3rd, everyone is invited to a special performance by the Oneida School of Dance. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Rec Center & Library.
Then on Saturday, October 5th, 2024 bring the whole family for a special drop-in craft event at the Recreation Center & Library and enjoy a fun, hands-on activity in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
