Nobody Walks Away Dry from the NBPD’s Annual Water Olympics
July 12, 2024Kids weren’t the only ones soaked when the NBPD held their annual Water Olympics in Bruin Stadium’s soccer field on Monday, Jul. 8. The police themselves were thoroughly doused by waterguns, hoses, water bottles – you name it.
Participants in the township’s Summer Fun program and any other local kids ages K through 5 were invited to come down and cool off on the hot summer day. Free waters sprayers were provided, along with bubble wands, ices, pretzels, and more.
There was a dunk tank, two inflatable waterslides, spray hoses, and dozens of containers full of water that creative kids turned into impromptu hot tubs.
Among the adults targeted and soaked by the kids were Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual, Police Chief Robert Farley, County Commissioner Robert Baselice, and Assemblyman Julio Marenco, along with many police officers, camp counselors, and volunteers.
The annual Water Olympics has been a tradition in North Bergen for about 10 years, with a brief pause during the pandemic.
