The stands at Bruin Stadium were packed with cheering supporters on Wednesday, June 26 as the class of 2024 gathered on the field for their graduation ceremony from North Bergen High School.

 

Mayor Nicholas Sacco offered his congratulations and encouragement, along with words of advice from his own academic career. Also offering strong words of support were NBHS Principal Richard Locricchio, Schools Superintendent Dr. George Solter, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Allen Pascual.

 

This year’s valedictorian was Dev Patel and the salutatorian was Omer Ashraf. The emcees were Lizbeth Rojas Cabrera and Miramda Viscaino. Abigail Villalta led the salute to the flag, and the advanced chorus sang a rendition of the National Anthem. Dr. Mohamed Moussa of the North Hudson Islamic Education Center offered the invocation, followed by the awarding of diplomas and a presentation of flowers. Father Peter Wehrle of Our Lady of The Lake Parish Church then closed with the benediction.

 

The event ended with the traditional tossing of caps in the air before families gathered in the park for hugs, photos, and celebration.
