North Bergen has achieved Sustainable Jersey Bronze recertification. Bronze certification means a municipality has made a commitment to sustainability and succeeded in implementing significant steps toward the long-term goal of a sustainable New Jersey and world.
Municipalities that earn this certification are considered by their peers, state government, experts, and civic organizations in New Jersey to be among the leading communities in the state.
In order to become Sustainable Jersey certified, North Bergen had to create a green team and complete a balance of the rigorous program’s sustainability actions. The certification was achieved by Tom Stampe at the North Bergen Municipal Utilities Authority (NBMUA) in collaboration with various departments in town, including public works, health, police, recreation, etc.
North Bergen will be honored for this achievement at the Sustainable Jersey Annual Luncheon on Nov. 14, 2017.
