North Bergen students entering the 7th or 8th grade in September are eligible to participate this summer in the Junior Police Academy (JPA), designed to operate like an actual police academy for those interested in law enforcement, and for students that show they have leadership skills.
The objective of the JPA is to educate the cadets with various police procedures and a history of the North Bergen Police Department, to provide informative tours and field trips, and to give them a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to succeed in the profession of law enforcement.
The JPA will run for five consecutive days, starting on Monday, July 16 and ending on Friday, July 20. The class will not exceed 30 cadets and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The application must be filled out correctly and accompanied by an essay and a recommendation from a teacher, principal, or vice principal.
Applications, recommendation letters, and essays must be submitted no later than June 1. Full details are provided at the link below.
