Ron y Lechon Restaurant at 7512 Broadway was the site of a Happy Hour fundraiser for Fight CRC, an organization supporting research, treatment, and prevention of colorectal cancer.
The restaurant’s owners, Hector Zulueta and Armando Galis-Menendez, donated to the cause a portion of all proceeds between 4 and 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018. The Cuban-themed establishment has hosted fundraising activities for other charities in the past but this was their first for Fight CRC, held during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
Mayor Nicholas Sacco and Guttenberg Mayor Wayne Zitt joined together to express their support at the event, along with Commissioner Julio Marenco, Freeholder Anthony Vainieri, and numerous township officials and residents.
Also present was local business owner Bob Ceragno – a survivor of colorectal cancer and active advocate for Fight CRC – who helped organize the event.
Although colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States among both men and women, it can be successfully treated if detected early. Fight CRC strongly encourages regular screenings as the key to prevention.
