About 140 kids ages pre-school through high school attended the annual holiday party on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 for North Bergen’s people with special needs. The dance floor was busy with activity as a DJ spun holiday hits and other upbeat favorites, while others played games and generally had a terrific time with their friends.
Mayor Nicholas Sacco introduced special guest Santa Claus, who posed for photos with the attendees, before everyone enjoyed a dinner of pizza and juice. The evening ended with age-appropriate gifts and goody bags for everyone.
North Bergen’s special needs program is coordinated by Jackie Ellwood and includes a summer camp for kids with special needs and a full program of activities and classes for adults with special needs.
Commissioner Julio Marenco, Freeholder Anthony Vainieri, and Deputy Director of Parks James Avella were among the other guests at the holiday party.
