Checks totaling $600 were given out to three North Bergen High School art students who won the top prizes in a contest sponsored by the Act Now Foundation Alzheimer’s Resource Center of NJ. The first prize winner, Gabriella Delacruz, took home $300 and her design will be used as the Act Now campaign logo for their 2018 brain health initiative. It will appear on t-shirts, flyers, posters, and other items.
Second and third place winners Victoria Raposo and Silviana Torres took home $200 and $100 respectively, and their designs will be used on additional marketing materials.
About 75 submissions were received in the contest, with the top 11 displayed at the Brain Health & Wellness Fair in Braddock Park on Sept. 23, 2017. Attendees voted for their top choices and the winners received their checks at a presentation in the high school on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017.
Among those present to congratulate the winners were Commissioner Allen Pascual, Superintendent of Schools Dr. George Solter, NBHS Principal Paschal Tennaro, Act Now founder Kristine Allen, and numerous teachers and administrators.
The art contest and Brain Health event are generously sponsored by CarePoint Health.
