The second Brain Health and Wellness Fair took over the southeast end of Braddock Park on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 with dozens of vendors providing free health screenings, massages, giveaways, and more. Papo Ortega’s Cubanoson Cuban orchestra played spirited music throughout the afternoon and Latin dancers whipped up a storm, while kids got to enjoy face painting, a caricature artist, a balloon artist, and other fun activities.
The event was sponsored by the Act Now Foundation Alzheimer’s Resource Center of NJ, along with the Township of North Bergen and the County of Hudson. Mayor Nicholas Sacco helped get the event rolling, along with Commissioners Allen Pascual and Julio Marenco, and Freeholder Anthony Vainieri.
Three North Bergen High School students won prizes in the Brain Health Initiative Art Contest, creating a poster for a future event, with prize money donated by CarePoint Health. The winners were Gabriella Delacruz in first place winning $300, Victoria Raposo in second place winning $200, and Silviana Torres in third place winning $100.
Other participants and supporters of the successful event included Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center, United Healthcare, AARP New Jersey, Foresters Financial, PeaceCare, Meadowlands Hospital, BCB Jersey City, and Walmart.
