Well over 1,000 residents and guests participated in the Disney Extravaganza at the North Bergen Municipal Pool on Friday, Aug. 25. Various Disney characters joined with Mayor Nicholas Sacco and Parks and Public Property Commissioner Hugo Cabrera in greeting residents as they entered, welcoming them to the Township’s annual pool party.
In the rear of the pool complex, bounce houses, rides, games, and water slides entertained the kids, alongside Playtime Game Arena’s traveling video arcade and the busy basketball and volleyball courts.
Singer Julia Haviland, a former NBHS honor student and current music major at NJCU, wowed the crowd with a stirring selection of kids’ favorites, followed by the NBHS band leading a full-fledged parade around the pool complex.
Perhaps the most popular attraction was the vast food court featuring an extensive menu of treats from all over the world, beneath flags from many nations. Among the vendors and restaurants who contributed mouth-watering cuisine to the party were Boulevard Diner, Frank’s Pizzeria, GP’s Restaurant, Hudson Bread, Lido Restaurant & Bar, Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors, Rancho Mateo, Rasoi, Rumba Cubana, Tapas de Espana, and Waterside Restaurant.
Commissioners Julio Marenco and Frank Gargiulo, Police Chief Robert Dowd, Parking Authority Director Bob Baselice, and many other administrators from the township pitched in to help in various ways and make it a truly special event.
