The North Bergen Police Department held a ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 to announce their recent accreditation by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. The event was followed by a tour of the renovated police headquarters, which includes a state-of-the-art Crime Prevention Center, CCTV capabilities, and a new prisoner processing center, all under one roof.
Mayor Nicholas Sacco praised the department for being proactive and working hard to achieve accreditation, joining an elite group of police departments in the state. Police Chief Robert Dowd thanked the township, Mayor Sacco, and Police Commissioner Allen Pascual for their support throughout the rigorous process.
After the ceremony and HQ tour, New Jersey State Accreditation Program Manager Harry Delgado spoke at the Township Commission meeting to praise the department for passing the difficult accreditation standards with 100 percent compliance, a rare achievement. Mayor Sacco and the commissioners then introduced a resolution recognizing the accreditation and congratulating the entire North Bergen Police Department.
