NB C.A.R.E.S. (Community Assistance Relief Events & Support) is an expansion of North Bergen’s Emergency Relief Program, which was created in response to a tragic fire in 2013. Over the years the program branched out into other avenues to help North Bergen residents in need. The program offers meals to the needy during the holiday season. NB C.A.R.E.S. works closely with the administrators of each school in town as well as school nurses and guidance counselors to make sure families are informed of the supplies and services we can provide to them and their children. We are involved in numerous community events and activities at which we provide refreshments such as popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy.
The name change to NB C.A.R.E.S. reflects the growth of the program as we expand to include many new drives, events, and resources for residents of all ages. One of the vital components of the NB C.A.R.E.S. program is the Emergency Relief Center, which was launched to ensure we are prepared to help the victims of fires or any other disasters. The relief center is stocked with food, clothing, toiletries, bedding, school supplies, school uniforms, books, toys, etc. to assist vulnerable families in emergency situations. Stocking the center is a collaborative effort between the township, donors, local businesses, and drives.
The following is a list of our annual drives throughout the township. New drives are added periodically as a need arises. Collection drives for fires or other emergencies are not scheduled in advance.
Donations of clothing, toiletries, nonperishable food, school uniforms, school supplies, and toys are accepted at ANY time, not limited to drives.
