Commissioner of Parks and Recreation Allen Pascual accepted the award on behalf of
Mayor Sacco and the Township along with North Bergen recreation supervisors John
Cellini and Joanne Sogluizzo
The North Bergen Pool Complex opened last summer for the enjoyment of thousands
of locals. The opening fulfilled a promise Mayor Sacco made 5 years ago when the
Township was forced to close the old swimming pool.
This new complex is a-state-of-the-art facility that features an Olympic size pool,
a children’s pool, and a “spray” park. In addition, it offers a picnic area, refreshments
and food vendors, and basketball and volleyball courts.
This impressive complex was recently awarded with the Excellence in Design Award
conferred by the New Jersey Recreation & Park Association during a ceremony celebrated
on March 4th in Atlantic City. “This award represents another incentive to continue
working on improving the quality of life of North Bergen residents,” said Allen
Pascual, Commissioner of Recreation.
“This pool facility is an important quality of life enhancement that helps make
North Bergen a special place to live,” said Mayor Sacco. “This award that we proudly
received is an important recognition and a reminder of our strong commitment to
make North Bergen a great place to live.”
